In 2010 we had a bit of an upswing in sales due to the federal tax credit for first time home buyers, record low mortgage rates and low home prices. Now that the tax credit is gone and the market prices have settled Charlotte NC real estate, like the rest of the US is declining. My advice is to look at the actual percentage points. Home sales in Charlotte are declining at a much lower rate that elsewhere in the country. People are still moving, buying and selling. There's no reason, with the right agent in your corner, that you can't be one of those lucky buyers or sellers.2011
What will happen this year largely depends on the banking industry in Charlotte. Homes for sale in Charlotte are still popping up at a steady pace as Bank of America and Wachovia adjust to the foreclosures. Again, you have to look at our market and industry compared to the rest of the country. I wouldn't let 6% either way effect my life decisions. Charlotte citizens have yet to experience a market drop like Las Vegas or Houston. My advice, don't let the 6 o'clock news paralyze your life. These are small swings in the market; allow a little bit more time to buy or sell and do what's right for your investment portfolio.
